31.01.14 - Musk Perfume Oil Notes Visuals (D&AD New Blood Awards - The Body Shop.)

Hello again!
So today I've been gathering up all my little bits of information and visual and putting them together on the blog so life is easier for me and so i can share progression with you!
These are some first initial visuals off all the different perfume notes that make up the musk scent.
My plan is to work with the colours, and shapes to make patterns that deconstruct the ingredients in a visually pleasing way.

Amber - (big bold ovals of pure amber gold colours)

Basil - (Leafy green patterns)

Galbanum - (Little clusters of yellow and green shapes)

Jasmine - spots of white.

Jasmine again

Lily - (Such a beautiful pattern already seen on the petals. Also gorgeous colour palette)

Iris - (Another fantastic colour palette)

Oakmoss - (rich
colours, and i personally think a fantastic word.)

patchouli - (little dots of the purple dashed around the screen)

Rose - (the choices with rose could be endless. Also is the scent for the colour crush lipsticks that are another product for the brief)

Ylang Ylang - (what a unique shape!)

Description of the scent:
"White Musk is a comfortable and velvety female fragrance, dedicated to every woman and perfect for every moment and occasion. It opens with notes of ylang-ylang, galbanum and basil, followed by the heart of jasmine, rose, musk and lily, and settling at the base dominated by musk along with jasmine, rose, iris, amber, patchouli, vetiver, peach, oakmoss and vanilla. Besides an intensive 30 ml eau de perfume, White Musk is available as 15 and 30 ml White Musk Perfume Oil and 30 and 60 ml eau de toilette."

26.01.14 - Experimental Colour Pattern Making (D&AD New Blood Awards - The Body Shop.)

Hello again.
Another update on some of the designs i've been making on my gaps in between dissertation work.
The more i play about, the more i'm enjoying really playing about with the bright colours.
Its odd, i don't have much to say about the work at the moment, i'm just producing it and enjoying the process.
Update Soon.

23.01.14 - Chemical Patterns (D&AD New Blood Awards - The Body Shop.)

Hello Again
Apologies for the blog not having the same momentum and upkeep as it usually does, but as its the week before hand-in for our dissertations its been hard to keep up the normal things!

So ive been producing work on down days from the dissertation taking up most of my time and i'm not to sure if the work i've been making is to be in either project, it would work in either one.

22.01.14 - Pattern Making (D&AD New Blood Awards - The Body Shop.)

Hello again!
My first steps as always is to make the originals, today i spent it mostly just mixing colours, enjoying listening to music and coming up with patterns based on whatever took me that day.
I also am toying with the idea at the moment to use the chemical compounds of some of the body shop products ingredients, to make abstract patterns out of.
Below are some of the initial designs
Update Soon.

Oh Hello.
Thought i would let you in on a little insight into what my day has been consisting of.
So ive been spending alot of my time getting a really good visual log of all the different things that will fuel my side project of expessive mark making (im unsure if to call it that or just "FLORA" give me some time)
So ive been looking a lot at botanicals obviously and also at more abstract colour based suface patterns.

14.01.14 - Visual Imagery

Goooood morning.
So today is project proposals day and were getting all our things together to present for a group crit this afternoon.
I think its about time that i started going through some of the research that I've found while looking into ideas for the body shop brief so let me fill you in.
These are all the visuals i've been putting together for both my experimental project (which i've now decided to call 'Flora/Fauna')
Recently i've been really inspired by bold and bright garden exotica and big bold coloured shapes.
Ive also enjoyed spreading my imagery collecting wider as i've been working with pattern and looking at textile design and product design.
I know that i want to make uplifting, creative work for my final project in this degree, and including this with the body shop brief would be a happy balance of enjoying my own experimental creativity and producing work on a commercial basis.
Update Soon.
